Downey Games is proud to announce the release of Controlled Chaos Demolition Derby!
The printed game is available here: http://www.downeygames.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_150
The E-Books are available here: http://www.downeygames.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_149
Bring all the metal crunching, tire popping, and heart pounding demolition derby action to life on your table top with Controlled Chaos Demolition Derby!
Why call it Controlled Chaos? Because that is exactly what a demolition derby is. Eight to sixteen specially prepared cars are locked into a bull ring and are allowed to ram, slam, crash, and smash one another until there is only one car left running. It is not quite anything goes though as there are rules in place for driver safety and fair play. Including very strict car preparation guidelines and restrictions to follow before entering a car. Once inside the bull ring, drivers must avoid hitting the driver door or risk being disqualified.
Like any form of competition, those who are more talented, try harder, have more experience, and are just plain lucky will ascend to the top. There will always be the lazy drivers who simply enter the ring and mindlessly hit everything in sight. These drivers won't last long and won't make it to the winner's circle. There is definite skill involved in the preparation and driving of a demolition derby car.
Fortunately we can recreate all the subtleties and hard hitting action with Controlled Chaos Demolition Derby. Watch driver's get blindsided, have their engines stall, deliver bone rattling hits that damage their own cars as much as their opponent's. The exclusive Chaos deck gives results ranging from locked bumpers to roll overs along with a built-in injury system that provides for a driver to not only be shaken up, but possibly severely injured and miss months of action!
There are even included season scenarios to allow you to get the most action and enjoyment out of Controlled Chaos.
The Printed version comes with complete rules, a set of Fast Action Cards, a Chaos Deck, and 54 driver cards. Everything is in vivid full-color. The Driver Cards, Fast Action Deck and Chaos deck are printed on die-cut cards.
The E-Book version contains the same as the printed version, only in PDF. For those that are conscious of printing, there are 7 pages of driver cards, 7 pages for the Chaos Deck and 14 pages for the Fast Action Deck.
No knowledge of the motorsport that is Demolition Derby is required to enjoy this game. Who knows after having the action unfold on your table top, we might be seeing you in the stands at the local fairgrounds. |

I want to write that I am very impressed with the product. The system appears to be smooth and just complex enough and colorful enough to keep it fresh and paint a picture of the action without bogging it down. After buying the PDF version to see what was going on, I almost immediately bought the printed version, mostly because I wanted to avoid challenging my printer to handle the color on the FACs. The driver cards I have no problem printing. The driver ratings are very cleverly implemented. There are enough of them to have plenty of differences in the drivers yet few enough to keep the gameplay smooth.
I will look forward to getting the printed version, fire up the cars and let the drivers have at it. The suggested schedule and points system should work fine to run a full season of controlled chaos. Thanks for making this. |

Ran my first heat today and it was exciting and tense down to the end. I did have a question though and perhaps a sugestion.
What happens if the final two drivers are knocked out at the same time?
Also, could there be a rule that says when a car is stuck or stalled or disabled but not eliminated, that they have a better chance of being targetted?
I will be playing more soon with a new circuit I am creating.

When the final two drivers are knocked out at the same time, the driver delivering the hit is deemed to have made the last aggressive move and is declared the winner. At least, that is the way I've always played it.
That said, it wouldn't be wrong to do another check using the Action number and/or ratings. For instance you could draw two cards, one for each driver, and whichever drew the higher action number was able to restart and be declared the winner.
Hope that helps. |

| Each of the first heats took me about 20-30 minutes apiece. After that they go quicker because the cars come into the consolations or the finals a bit more beat up. |

Just wondering if the drivers that come with the game are real drivers or fictional?
Thanks |

Fictional. If there is a series or league you follow, please let me know. |
