The top 125 money winners of the 1986 PGA Tour are rated and ready for play! 1986 was a spectacular year in golf. Greg Norman was the leading money winner, and #1 ranked player in the world. He led all four majors in 1986 going into the final round. He won only the British Open. Two forty-somethings staved off father time to win majors. Jack Nicklaus won his 6th(!) green jacket, with a 30 on the back nine Sunday. Ray Floyd was victorious at Shinnecock in the US Open. Bob Tway holed out from the sand to upset Norman at the PGA at Inverness.
1986 is replete with a lot of name players: Bernhard Langer, Payne Stewart, Ben Crenshaw, Fuzzy Zoeller, Mark O'Meara, Fred Couples, just to name a few.
The player ratings were based on scoring average and a Golf Digest statistic called Performance Index. The players should perform realistically, and appropriately in their skill categories. Have fun examining and playing the 1986 PGA Tour.
