(Monday, January 2, 1980) MINNEAPOLIS, MN : Happy New Year in pro wrestling. The big news, Verne Gagne has retired from pro wrestling, as well as he has sold the American Wrestling Association to Superstar Productions and the new owner is James Carlin. Along with that, the AWA will have a new roster. Also, Nick Bockwinkel is still the AWA World Champion, also, with Verne Gagne retired, the AWA World Tag Team Championship was held by Verne Gagne and Mad Dog Vachon, now Vachon will have to pick a new tag team partner to defend the titles from this point on. This is the debut post under Filsinger Games. More TBA.

BREAKING NEWS : American Wrestling Association has bought the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from Vincent J. McMahon, thus ending their 17-year run as a promotion from 1963 to 1980. More TBA as far as the WWF wrestlers coming to the AWA.

- American Wrestling Association have taken over a few Northeast territories, with that said, the AWA now runs Maryland, Washington DC, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

- The WWF Intercontinental Championship is renamed to the AWA Intercontinental Champion. The first champion is Pat Patterson.

- (OPENING MATCH) Whiplash made Jim Brunzell submit to the Thumbscrew.

- Bob Backlund defeated Ray Stevens (w/Bobby Heenan) by disqualification.

- (AWA World Tag Team Championship) Mad Dog Vachon and Quasar defeated Adrian Adonis and Matador of M83 when Vachon pinned Adonis with the Mad Dog Pounce to retain the titles. As a result, Mad Dog Vachon has picked Quasar as his new tag team partner to defend the titles.

- (AWA Intercontinental Championship) Pulsar Prime made Pat Patterson (w/Bobby Heenan) submit to the Solar Strain to win the title.

- (MAIN EVENT) (AWA World Championship) SD Jones pinned Nick Bockwinkel (w/Bobby Heenan) with the Head Butt to win the title.

- (AWA Intercontinental Championship) Pat Patterson (w/Bobby Heenan) pinned Pulsar Prime with the Bombs Away to win the title for the second time.

- (No Disqualification Match) Ray Stevens (w/Bobby Heenan) pinned Bob Backlund with the Crippling Piledriver.

- (MAIN EVENT) (AWA World Championship) Nick Bockwinkel (w/Bobby Heenan) pinned SD Jones with a cross body block to win the title for the second time.

BREAKING NEWS : American Wrestling Association have bought out both Big Time Wrestling from Detroit from Frances Flesher and Ed Farhat and Big Time Wrestling from Roy Shire. AWA will have Detroit, MI, Cincinnati, OH, Akron, OH, San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA and Santa Rosa, CA.

- (manager) Captain Lou Albano has signed with the American Wrestling Association and is the new manager of Iron Sheik, Bounty Hunter and Matador of M83.

- (OPENING MATCH) (AWA Intercontinental Championship) Pulsar Prime made Adrian Adonis submit to the Whirlwind to retain the title.

- Tony Garea made Larry Zbyszko submit to the Abdominal Stretch. After the match, both men shook hands, only for Zbyszko to kick Garea in the groin, then Zbyszko repeatedly stomps on Garea. Then Zbyszko went outside the ring, grabbed a chair and smashed Garea to the head with a chair 3 times, bloodying Garea, laying him out in the process. Garea was carried out on a stretcher. As a result, Larry Zbyszko has turned heel.

- Whiplash defeated The Crusher by disqualification when Crusher nailed Whiplash with a chair.

- Bob Backlund and Jim Brunzell defeated (AWA World Tag Team Champions) Blonde Bombers (w/Bobby Heenan) by disqualification when Pat Patterson nailed Backlund with a chair in a Non-Title Match.

- (MAIN EVENT) (No Disqualification Match) Andre The Giant pinned Eric The Red with the Big Splash.

NOTE : This was the final card under Filsinger Games. The next card will be under Ultra Quick Wrestling.

- Billy Robinson, Chris Markoff, Calypso Jim, Super Destroyer Mark III , Greg Gagne, Crusher Blackwell, Prince Pullins, Chief Joe Lightfoot, The Hoggs (JR Hogg & King Harley Hogg), Dino Bravo, Dr. Jerry Graham Jr., Ken Lucas, The Great Wojo and Steve Olsonoski have signed with the American Wrestling Association.

- Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell are High Flyers.

- The AWA Intercontinental Championship is now renamed to the AWA Television Championship and the first champion will be crowned on Saturday night, February 18, 1980.

- (OPENING MATCH) King Harley Hogg pinned Billy Robinson when Hogg smashed Robinson with a biker chain.

- (No Disqualification Match) The Crusher made JR Hogg submit to the Crusher Claw.

- (AWA World Champion) Nick Bockwinkel (w/Bobby Heenan) pinned Chief Joe Lightfoot with the Piledriver in a Non-Title Match.

- (AWA World Tag Team Championship = No Disqualification Match) High Flyers (Greg Gagne & Jumping Jim Brunzell) defeated Blonde Bombers (w/Bobby Heenan) when Gagne made Ray Stevens submit to the Sleeperhold to win the titles for the second time.

- (MAIN EVENT) (Vacant AWA Television Championship) Bob Backlund pinned Adrian Adonis with a botched powerbomb to become the first champion. Adrian Adonis is injured and will be out for 4 months. Adrian Adonis will be cleared to wrestle on June 18, 1980.
